Sometimes I wonder why I cannot just be happy with the way things are. What is it that makes me think there must be a better, or another way of having or doing things. It means, usually, extra work and worry. Why not just opt for the easy life?

Sometimes a change in routine is a good reminder of what is good in life. After four week's part-time work in an office I am reminded why I don't work in an office. I haven't worked in an office situation for nigh on 15 years (last time it was in the Earlsdon local library).
It was an experiment, a time filler and a chance to reflect upon what I do and why. I went happily and voluntarily and I was made to feel so welcome, and I could do the work. But - it just is not for me.
There is just so much more to do at home. I never get done, or attempt, all I wish to do. And I am not talking about house work. That falls way down on the list - just a good excuse for doing all the other things I like.
I have been comtemplating the frustration at never being brilliant at all I try. Perhaps just having a go, persisting and doing the best is better than being brilliant at one thing and never doing anything else.
So, working in an office was an experiment, but has now let me get back on with the daily un-routine at home I just love.
The most joy of my week has been singing in a band. I love to sing. I love to sing. I miss singing. An opportunity presented itself a fortnight ago and have a go I did. Perhaps 20 years too late, perhaps it won't happen again. I hope it does.
What fun to be surrounded by a wall of musical instruments - all of which happen to be playing the songs you love to sing the most. Wow. Yes, I missed notes and a couple of entries, but it was fun. I thought I would be dumbstruck. I have sung in a choir before, where you can hide. Here I could not and it was ok.
So, today, whilst the bread was proving, the washing spinning and the floors drying I have had fun working on a new song in the hope I might sing with the band again. You can't do that in an office.
